Field Notes
Chasing Light
This week I stop chasing subjects and start chasing light. Exploring how light and shadow can shape a scene, tell a story, and become the subject itself.
Learning to See in 35mm
Carrying a camera everywhere changed how I shoot—but it also revealed a new challenge. With a 35mm lens, the image doesn’t make itself interesting. You have to learn to see the story inside the frame.
The Camera is Here. Now What?
The new camera arrived this week, and first impressions are strong. But gear is only exciting if it gets used. This week’s experiment: carry the camera everywhere and see what happens.
The Passion Never Left
Before kids, I used to photograph almost every day. Sunrise shoots around the Bay, sunset drives to the coast, and late nights editing images. Then life got busy and the camera slowly stayed in the bag. Recently I realized something important—the passion never left.
Just Start
The reasons never stop. Tomorrow. This weekend. When things slow down. But eventually you realize the only way forward is simple: just start.
